Aido Business Health Forum

The Aido Investment and Business Committee (AIBC) is pleased to bring to you this year’s first forum that is built on the success of our inaugural event held virtually in November 2020 due to the on-going global pandemic.

With global roll out of the vaccine leading the exit strategy from this pandemic, it is important for us as a collective to look back at the lessons learned and consider the opportunities lie ahead as we all collectively work towards improving health access within our communities.

It is very evident that the impact of Covid–19 on African populations has been relatively light in comparison to the more developed economies and prioritization and focus of health systems to fight Covid may have a huge impact on covid-19 diseases such as Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) which the World Health Organisation (WHO) predicts will soon be the leading cause of ill-health, disability and premature deaths in Africa.

Some of the immediate responses health care professionals in the region are seeing include a drastic decline in demand for covid-19 related services (in comparison during the height of the pandemic). There has also been a shift in health seeking behaviors, few hospital visits are being registered and pharmacy visits have gone up, especially in the case of primary health care needs.

Typically as Africans – mainly through our governments, we would look towards European, American and lately Chinese benefactors to address the above challenges and harness the opportunities. As a consequence, we have been left out of the delivery of the solution and the economic benefits that come with that.

It is on this background that AIBC, together with our partners are hosting a virtual forum on May 22, 2021 at 2PM UK Time under the topic “Post Covid – Healthcare Investment and Opportunities in Africa”. The Programme will feature different stakeholders across the Health Services value chain in a discussion that will:

  • Connect health sector players in Africa to exchange lessons learned and identify areas for collaboration;
  • Highlight emerging health service delivery and investment models that are being implemented in Africa;
  • Showcase health sector professionals driving innovation and change across the region and
  • Share knowledge and empower our audience with information to make better healthcare decisions

By bringing people together, Aido through the AIBC aims to put Africans at the center of designing and delivering solutions that solve its most pressing challenges while generating commensurate economic benefits for ourselves and our community.

Aido Network is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
