The Kumi School of Nursing in Mukongoro, a 5,000-student institution offering essential medical courses in nursing, midwifery, and pharmaceutical studies, was alive with joy as African Kings and Queens from the diaspora, led by His Royal Highness Paul Eganda, President of the African International Development Organization (AIDO), and Papa Emorimor Emolot Paul Sande, arrived to inaugurate a newly installed water harvesting system. Generously donated by Princess Africa and Chief Dion Haynes Paade of the African Caribbean Development Association (ACDA) in Guyana through AIDO Network, this system now ensures a stable and sustainable water supply, enhancing the students’ quality of life and learning environment.
The advanced water storage system, with a capacity of over 20,000 liters, is designed to meet the school’s daily needs, ensuring students have consistent access to clean water. Additionally, Princess Africa and Chief Paade contributed scholarships for high-achieving medical students, establishing a full bursary program through AIDO Network to promote academic excellence.
Professor Charles Okiria, Proprietor and Principal of the school, expressed his deep appreciation to AIDO and the esteemed guests, recognizing the far-reaching impact of these contributions. Students were visibly elated, not only by the generous support but also by the presence of royal dignitaries. Local community members shared in the pride, noting that the school brings affordable, high-quality medical education to the region. The celebration was further enriched with cultural performances, blending various traditions to honor the royal guests and reflect the school’s commitment to unity and progress.
