On October 26th, the magnificent Toto Royal Villa in Serere was home to a historic and grand gathering of over 50 African royals. This remarkable ceremony celebrated heritage and unity, with processions that saw each King and Queen make a majestic entrance to music reflecting their origins. Papa Emolot, the revered King of Teso, was in attendance to grace the proceedings.
A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Supreme Council of the Global African Diaspora Kingdom (GADK). Her Royal Majesty Queen Vickilextar Okang of the Omanye Kingdom in Ghana presided over the ceremony, where His Highness (HH) Paul Eganda is Chairman. Queen Dr. Hilary Brown Acom II assumed the role of President, Her Royal Highness (HRH) Queen Jenny Abbensetts Ikatekit inaugurated as the Vice President, and Queen Mother Hon. Millicent Odhiambo Nabura as Chief Commissioner. Each took an oath of office to begin their duties.
Following the inauguration, the enstoolment ceremony was led by His Royal Majesty Dr. Makorani-O-Mungase VII of the Pokomo Royal Kingdom, in which Africa’s children from the diaspora were symbolically welcomed back home. Her Majesty Queen Cynthia Khumalo Mzilikazi III of South Africa and Queen Vickilexar Okang led the enstoolment, an act that bestowed upon them robes of animal print symbolizing authority, staffs, and African identity names. The President of AIDO, His Royal Highness Paul Eganda, and Papa Emolot blessed the ritual, underscoring African solidarity and identity.
Adding to the ceremony’s impact, Princess Ulrike Pohlman Acom, Chairperson of the Aido Network, delivered an outstanding speech emphasizing the power of unity, stating, “Unity among our kingdoms is the bridge that links our shared history and bright future.” The President of GADK echoed this sentiment, declaring, “As we reconnect with our roots, we strengthen the bonds of family across oceans and continents.”
The event also drew local dignitaries, including the Minister for Fisheries, Helen Adoa, who praised the beautifully organized celebration. The venue’s extraordinary decorations were widely admired, with locals calling it one of the most breathtaking royal ceremonies they had ever witnessed.
This magnificent gathering at Toto Royal Villa was not only a tribute to African royalty but also a powerful affirmation of cultural heritage, unity, and pride within the African Diaspora
