In the year 2023, the AIDO diaspora Royal Kingdom embarked on a pilgrimage to Africa, where they made a courtesy visit to the Kumi Institute of Nursing and Midwifery in the eastern part of Uganda.
The institute, established in the early 1960’s currently produces on average 60 nurses annually, which has contributed greatly to the availability of medical personnel in the region.
Despite it’s impact in the community which includes scholarship opportunities to young people, the institute faces a number of challenges such as irregular power supply, shortage of safe drinking water, lack of proper means of transport and inadequate accommodation facilities.
In March 2024, the family of Chief Dion Paade and Princess Africa from ACDA Guyana donated 1700USD to facilitate the installation of rainwater harvesting tanks for the institute.

This support according to Prof Charles Okiria, the director Kumi institute of Nursing & Midwifery, has been fundamental in holistically solving 10% of the pre-existing challenges the institute faces.

“We are humbled by the work of the diaspora kingdom in our community” says Prof. Charles Okiria, who further appreciated the work of AIDO Network International in bringing together Africa and her diaspora, in turn fostering growth and development.
This charity project is one of the many projects resulting from the AIDO reconnection Agenda.
