
AIDO Advisory Council Welcomes New Leadership, Calls for Dedicated Reparations Directorate

Kampala, Uganda — The Ugandan capital is set to host a landmark five-day 8th AIDO Pan-African Summit, bringing together African diaspora leaders, traditional monarchs, government officials, diplomats, investors, and global Pan-African representatives. The summit, organised by AIDO Network International in collaboration with the Global Pan African Movement and the CARICOM Reparations Commission, will focus on advancing African unity, diaspora partnerships, and reparatory justice.
“This summit will not only foster economic cooperation but also strengthen cultural and policy ties between Africa and its diaspora,” said Princess Filda Lolem, Director of Culture and Heritage at AIDO Network International, Germany.
The summit will feature strategic policy dialogues, business forums, and investment exhibitions, highlighting opportunities in commercial agriculture, real estate, fashion, and fintech. A Diaspora Business and Investment Forum will bring together entrepreneurs, financial institutions, and policymakers to explore partnerships that strengthen cross-border trade, investment, and financial inclusion.
Over 60 African kings and traditional rulers have confirmed attendance, including His Royal Majesty King Bhungane III, a survivor of apartheid-era imprisonment alongside Nelson Mandela, His Majesty King Guide Bamba El Hadj Mahamed Npahi SÁANWI, MANSA of Mali, and His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Bashir Albishir Bukar, Mai of the Machina Kingdom, Nigeria. Their participation highlights the growing role of traditional institutions in cultural diplomacy, peacebuilding, and economic development.
The summit will serve as a prelude to the annual Africa Liberation Day celebrations, scheduled for 25 May 2026 at Kololo Independence Grounds, organised by the Uganda Pan African Fraternity, chaired by Lt. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, who also serves as President of the Global Pan African Movement. Africa Liberation Day commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity and celebrates the continent’s historic struggle for freedom, unity, and self-determination.
