London prepares for a historic convergence of royalty, cultural custodians and human rights leaders as AIDO hosts its landmark 7th International Convention and Global Africa Awards 2025.

London, UK — This weekend, London will become the epicenter of cultural diplomacy and reparatory justice as royals, dignitaries, policymakers, and global activists gather for the 7th Annual AIDO International Convention and Global Africa Awards 2025 at the Hilton Hotel Croydon.

Under the theme “A Global Call to End Modern-Day Slavery: Uniting for Justice and Human Dignity”, the convention is drawing an unprecedented mix of traditional royal houses, government officials, human rights defenders and diaspora leaders from across Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and the Americas.

In a sign of the event’s growing international stature, the King and Queen of England are expected to be represented, alongside delegations from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Canada, Germany and Barbados. Political representation will also be strong, with Lord Shokat Ali representing the House of Lords, and a number of MPs and government ministers scheduled to attend.

The CARICOM Reparations Commission has sent a delegation in honour of Sir Hilary McDonald Beckles, Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West Indies and a leading global voice on reparatory justice. 

Beyond high-level discussions, the convention’s highlight will be the Global Africa Awards and the royal enstoolment ceremony, a glittering royal banquet recognising leaders who have transformed lives through humanitarian service, advocacy, technology, education, and cultural diplomacy.

Key partner organisations — including Stop Human Trafficking Worldwide UK, CARICOM reparations commission, Interfaith UK, Youth for Human Rights ,Foundation for Drug Free world, IAS, International, and the UK Home Office — will also lend their weight to the gathering, reinforcing its focus on combating modern slavery and promoting justice.

Her Highness Dr. Grace Eganda, Secretary General of AIDO, said ahead of the event:

“We are gathering as guardians of human rights, custodians of  our heritage, and voices for the voiceless. This convention will not just be about words, it will be about action, unity, and moving the world closer to freedom and justice for all.”

As London hosts this historic convergence, the world will be watching as AIDO’s 7th International Convention positions itself as a turning point in the global movement for dignity, reparations, and justice.
