Happy New Year and warmest greetings as we begin 2022!

I would like to appreciate the entire AIDO leadership, across the network, for their relentless efforts, hard work within their chapters to create the Africa we want to see. Although what we experienced during the past two years was unprecedented in our life time, we persevered and redefined the new normal, courageously with a better focus for success.

Achievements/Milestones 2021

1. February: Signing an MoU with the 6th Regional Global Chamber of Commerce for cooperation and promotion of affinities between Africa and the African diaspora in the Americas.

2. Initiation of a unique project leading to a pilgrimage by African Royals and distinguished personalities to meet the descendants of the African Continent living in isolation, misinformation and alienation, scattered in the countries of Latin America, the Caribbean and North America.

3. Institutionalisation of AIDO’s weekly cultural TV/radio show entitled “Roots of Africa” as part of the activities to help prepare all concerned for the above-named project.

4. May: Bestowing upon seven distinguished high office holders of AIDO, the royal honours and titles of Princes, Princesses and Queens by His Imperial Majesty King Bhungane III of Embo Royal Nation;

i. Ulrike Pohlman – Princess (Germany)
ii. Amb. Ireneo Namboka – Prince (France)
iii. Ameenata Asaleh Koita – Queen (USA)
iv. Udoh Pohlman – Prince (Germany)
v. Nana Asamoah Sakyi I – Queen (Ghana)
vi. HH. Grace Eganda – The Global Queen
vii. HH Paul J. Eganda aka Makhanya Kude wena wase Embo – Meaning the one who bears a light from afar (The Global Chieftaincy Title).

5. Launch of a special appeal to support delivery of a donation of vital medical equipment worth $350,000 to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda by Project C.U.R.E. This appeal has now received an estimated $8,900 towards a total cost of $30,000. Project C.U.R.E. The donors are expected to visit the beneficiary hospital in January 2022 for on-site assessment.

6. October 7: AIDO in partnership with the Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution, California State University Sacramento (CSUS) USA; Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI), California USA and Scribe House Publishers - Uganda, convened a virtual conference on the theme “The New Africa We Want”. The conference preceded the launch of the newly released book “Dreaming of a New Africa” by AIDO’s Vice President (Amb. Ireneo Namboka).

7. Consultations between AIDO and the AIGC (African Indigenous Governance Council) started early in the year reached an advanced stage with an MoU due to be signed in early 2022.

8. October 27 to 31: AIDO successfully held its 2021 Annual Convention held in Accra, Ghana as scheduled. Participants from Ghana itself were joined by high profile guests including a delegation led by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda; Minister of Tourism from the Republic of Panama, delegates from South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, the United Kingdom, France, the United States of America, Canada and others representing regional and international bodies.

9. AIDO Kenya Chapter fully launched their operation in Mombasa, Kenya while AIDO Uganda Chapter will be formally holding the ceremony to officially launch its operations in January 2022 with the participation of the Prime Minister of Uganda.

10. The African Royal’ Expedition to the Americas is scheduled to take place in 2022. Broadening the project’s geographical coverage and the thematic spectrum in the final stages, seven (7) Caribbean countries including a university and one state in the USA have offered to host the historic event. Work in this regard is in advanced stages with a view to soon signing a memorandum of understanding with partners.
